
The death toll from the Middle East war, which began with U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, has risen to at least 4,300, with no indication that the violence will end.
It has been over three weeks since the U.S. and Israel launched attacks on Iran on 28 Feb 2026, sparking a war that has spread across the region and caused over 4,300 deaths, according to regional figures compiled by CNN.
A report dated 21 Mar 2026 from the human rights group HRANA, based in the U.S., and Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, states that hundreds of children are among the dead across countries including Iran and Lebanon.
. Iran Iranian authorities have not released overall death figures for some time, but on Monday the Iranian Foreign Minister said "several hundred Iranian civilians," including more than 200 children, have died since the conflict began.
Human rights group HRANA said yesterday there have been at least 1,398 civilian deaths (including 210 children) and 1,165 military personnel killed. Additionally, there are 657 deaths for which it is unclear if the victims were civilians or soldiers.
. Lebanon Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported yesterday that Israeli attacks, which intensified from 2 Mar, have killed at least 1,021 people, including 118 children.
. Iraq The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced at least 61 members have died. Reports from the Kurdistan regional government state that five Iranian Kurdish group members, one Iraqi Kurdish security official, and one French soldier were killed in attacks in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.
. Israel Iranian attacks over the past three weeks have caused at least 15 deaths in Israel, including nine who died when missiles hit a residential building during the war’s first weekend. The Israeli military also reported two Israeli soldiers killed in Lebanon on 8 March.
. United States The U.S. military has lost 13 personnel since the conflict began, including six killed in a refueling plane crash in Iraq on 12 March, six killed in an Iranian attack on a temporary operations center in Kuwait on 1 March, and one soldier who died later from injuries sustained during an attack in Saudi Arabia.
. United Arab Emirates The UAE issued a statement on Saturday confirming two military members died from an Iranian "attack," along with six civilians of Pakistani, Nepalese, Bangladeshi, and Palestinian nationalities.
. Kuwait At least six people have died in Iranian attacks over the past three weeks, including an 11-year-old girl who succumbed to injuries from shrapnel striking a residential area on 4 March.
Palestinian authorities reported that four Palestinian women, including a 32-year-old six-month pregnant woman, died after rocket debris struck a hair salon in the West Bank on Wednesday (18 Mar). The Israeli military blamed an Iranian missile armed with cluster bombs for the attack.
. Oman At least three foreigners died in Oman, two from drone "crashes" in the Sohar area, according to Oman’s Ministry of Defense on 13 March. Bahrain reported at least two deaths, including a 29-year-old Bahraini woman, from attacks in Manama.
. Saudi Arabia Civil defense authorities reported that one Indian and one Bangladeshi national died after explosives hit a residential building in Al-Kharj city on 8 March.
