Tragic Hit-and-Run Kills Two Thais in Miami Suspect Claims He Closed Eyes and Accelerated to End His Own Life

A tragic incident occurred in Miami, USA, when two Thai nationals fell victim to a hit-and-run driver. Police have since arrested the suspect, who claimed that at the time, he closed his eyes and pressed the accelerator, intending to end his own life.

On 24 March 2026, a news website reported.The Herald Times.The Herald Times reported that Adan Negron-Morris, a 42-year-old American man driving without headlights, struck two Thai pedestrians on a crosswalk, killing them, before fleeing the scene. The victims were Greatgomon Laowatdhanasapya, a 23-year-old Thai man, and Sarisa Kongduang, a 22-year-old Thai woman.

Police disclosed that the two Thai victims included one Indiana University student and one recent graduate from the class of 2024. Both were traveling during spring break and died at the scene after being hit by a speeding vehicle while crossing the street on a crosswalk at 21:10 on 18 March.


According to Miami Herald sources, the suspect, a 42-year-old man driving a Nissan Sentra, was speeding without headlights. Before the incident, several bystanders called 911 reporting a speeding vehicle. After striking the victims, the suspect fled and abandoned the car near a Walgreens area not far from the scene. Police later arrested him nearby. He faces two counts of reckless driving causing death and two counts of fleeing a fatal accident.

Information from the Thai Student Association states that Ms. Sarisa (Prae) Kongduang, 22, was a third-year student at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, majoring in management with minors in tourism, hospitality, and event management. She also served as president of the Thai Student Association in the United States (ATSA), representing and supporting Thai students and playing a key role in organizing projects such as ATSA EXPO 2024–2025.

Meanwhile, Mr. Greatgomon (Great) Laowatdhanasapya, 23, graduated in 2024 from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University with bachelor's and master's degrees in finance. He worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at Bank of America in Chicago.
