The leader of Hezbollah declared he will not negotiate with Israel as long as Lebanon remains under heavy attack, stating that negotiations under such conditions amount to surrender.
On 25 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Na'im Qassem, the influential Hezbollah leader in Lebanon, rejected negotiating with Israel while Lebanon is still under bombardment, saying any talks under the current conflict conditions amount to being "forced to surrender."
"When exclusive rights to bear arms are demanded only to satisfy Israel's demands while occupation and aggression continue, that is a step toward Lebanon's destruction," Qassem said in a statement released via Telegram.
He added, "Negotiating with the enemy, Israel, amid ongoing bombardment is a forced surrender and strips Lebanon of all its capabilities. Negotiations with an enemy that occupies territory and attacks daily are entirely unacceptable."
Furthermore, Qassem claimed that Hezbollah fighters are "committed to continuing without limits" if the conflict intensifies.
