Netanyahu Declares Continued War Against Iran, Accelerates Buffer Zone Expansion in Lebanon

The Israeli Prime Minister confirmed that the war against Iran continues despite the US stating it is negotiating with Iran. Additionally, Israel is focused on expanding its buffer zone in Lebanon.

On 25 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, stated, “The wide-ranging operations against Iran continue despite reports to the contrary,” while the US announced it is engaged in talks with Iran to find a way to end the conflict.

Netanyahu also addressed military operations against Hezbollah, which holds influence in Lebanon, saying, “The destruction of Hezbollah remains a top priority,” and adding, “We are fully committed to doing whatever is necessary to radically change the situation in Lebanon.”

Netanyahu told mayors and local officials from Israel’s northern border communities that Israel is expanding its military presence in what he called a “buffer zone” in southern Lebanon, explaining that this zone was created to push Hezbollah militants away from the border and protect Israeli communities.

“We have established a real security buffer zone that helps prevent ground invasions into the Galilee region and our northern border,” he said. “Essentially, we are building a wider safety belt.”

Netanyahu further stated that Israel has already eliminated “most of Hezbollah’s missile threats” but acknowledged, “there is still work to be done.” He added that the Israeli military has “neutralized” the threat posed by the Radwan unit, Hezbollah’s special forces for ground attacks.

“We have removed that threat,” Netanyahu said. “It no longer exists.”
