The White House spokesperson confirmed that the Trump administration is still negotiating with Iran despite Tehran's denial. She also noted that the 15-point plan reported online is speculative but includes some elements of truth.
On 25 Mar 2026 GMT+7, White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt held the daily press briefing, where she broadly addressed the war with Iran and appeared to downplay rumors about the 15-point plan reportedly offered by President Donald Trump's administration to Iran to end the war.
Regarding the negotiation status, Leavitt stated that President Trump remains engaged in “productive discussions” with Iran, even though Tehran had previously issued a statement rejecting the U.S. peace plan.
Concerning the 15-point plan circulated on social media, Leavitt described it as “speculation” but acknowledged it contained “some elements of truth.” She declined to provide detailed updates on the progress of the talks.
On oil prices, Leavitt assured that Trump is striving to keep prices “as low as possible” during the war, amid U.S. consumer complaints about rising fuel costs.
Meanwhile, the White House spokesperson refused to answer questions about the possibility of deploying infantry troops to Iran but stated the administration would not need formal Congressional approval if it proceeded with such an action.
When asked how close the war is to ending, Leavitt reiterated the White House's position that the situation is moving “faster than scheduled” and praised what the administration calls a highly successful operation.
A reporter asked if there is a set timeline for when oil can be safely transported through the Strait of Hormuz. Leavitt responded, “There is no specific timeline yet,” but the Trump administration is “working to make it happen as soon as possible.”
