A tourist helicopter in Hawaii, USA, crashed on a beach on Kauai Island this afternoon local time. Officials reported that the accident resulted in three immediate fatalities and two injuries.
Kauai Island's fire and rescue unit reported that the helicopter was carrying one pilot and four passengers when it crashed on Kalalau Beach, located on the Na Pali Coast on the island's northern shore. The two injured individuals were transported to Wilcox Medical Center for treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicate the helicopter involved was operated by Airborne Aviation.
Tour helicopter rides are a popular way for tourists to view the cliffs, beaches, and waterfalls along Kauai's Na Pali Coast, as the area is rugged and accessible only by foot or boat.
