The United Nations atomic energy agency urged all parties to reduce tensions, fearing a nuclear accident after Israel attacked two targets in Iran.
On 27 March 2026, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) called on all parties to exercise restraint after Israel launched attacks on two sites linked to Iran's nuclear program, including a uranium processing plant.
Rafael Grossi, IAEA Director General, stated that it is essential to avoid escalating military violence to prevent the risk of a nuclear accident. He added that recent inspections found no increased radiation levels outside the Shahid Rezaie Nejad plant, one of the attacked sites.
However, the agency emphasized that the situation remains fragile, and attacks on nuclear infrastructure could cause severe consequences if not properly controlled. This development raises concerns about nuclear safety in the region and reinforces international pressure on all parties to reduce confrontations to prevent the crisis from spiraling out of control.
