President Donald Trump's special envoy revealed hope to hold negotiations with Iran this week, noting ongoing communications and emphasizing that the U.S. is prepared to await a response to the 15-point agreement aimed at ending the war.
On 27 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump's special envoy, stated that the U.S. hopes to conduct negotiations with Iran within this week, noting ongoing contacts. Witkoff said at the F11 Priority event in Miami, Florida, that the U.S. government expects a meeting this week and highlighted that the ability of ships to pass through shipping lanes is a "very good sign."
He further emphasized that President Trump wants a peace agreement and revealed that the U.S. has offered Iran a "15-point agreement" for some time, hoping for a prompt response.
This development follows remarks by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who indicated that military operations in Iran could end within "a few weeks, not months." The U.S. government seeks to advance negotiations alongside military pressure amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
