Donald Trump told investors in Miami, emphasizing the success of the war with Iran before shaking the room by saying, "Cuba is next," despite trying to tell the media not to report it.
During a speech to investors at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Institute Summit in Miami on Friday night (27 Mar), Trump assured listeners that the U.S. military had effectively and successfully achieved its military objectives in the four-week-long war with Iran.
However, part of the speech became a hot topic when Trump said:
"And Cuba is next... but let's pretend I didn't say that... Media, don't report this... Cuba is next."
The announcement "Cuba is next" came after the U.S. government carried out an operation to capture Nicolás Maduro, the Venezuelan leader and a key ally of Cuba, reflecting a possible shift in U.S. focus from the Middle East to Latin America, especially Cuba, which could become a new target.
The declaration of success in the Iran war came amid contrasting circumstances, as U.S. officials revealed that the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia was attacked by Iranian missiles and drones. The statement was seen as a policy signal directed at Cuba amid ongoing global tensions.
An anonymous source stated that the attack caused damage to several U.S. refueling aircraft and resulted in injuries to soldiers, though the exact number and severity remain unclear.
This report aligns with information previously published by The Wall Street Journal, as well as satellite images circulating online showing damage to aircraft at the base.
Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command disclosed that since the conflict began, more than 300 U.S. military personnel have been injured.
