Israel Attacks Iranian Nuclear Facility Lebanon Blast Kills 3 Journalists

Israel launched attacks on Iran's nuclear facility and industrial complex, resulting in at least one fatality. At the same time, it targeted a media vehicle in Lebanon, killing three journalists.

On 28 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Israel initiated a major assault on Iran’s nuclear plant and industrial area after threatening to "escalate and expand" strikes in Tehran. Both sides showed little sign of restraint despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that Israel struck two steel plants late Friday, including one in Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan Province, which uses radioactive materials. The heavy water production plant in Arak, a key source of Iran’s plutonium, was also attacked.

Iranian media reported one death from the Israeli attack on the steel industrial complex in Isfahan city. Additionally, two large power plants supplying electricity to the facility were damaged.

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization stated that a plant in Yazd Province producing "yellowcake" uranium concentrate, used as nuclear fuel, was also targeted. They confirmed there was no "radioactive leakage outside the facility."

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared that Iran would make the attackers "pay a very high price" following this assault.

Meanwhile, local Lebanese media reported that three journalists were killed when Israel targeted a media vehicle in southern Lebanon.

Ali Shuaib, a reporter for Al Manar TV—which is operated by the armed group Hezbollah—and journalists Fatima and Mohammed Fetoni from Al Mayadin news agency were killed in an airstrike in the city of Jezzine.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the attack as an "outright crime" and a violation of international law, which mandates protection for journalists during wartime.

The Israeli military confirmed it killed Ali Shuaib in the strike but accused him of being a Hezbollah operative disguised as a journalist.
