A Pakistani minister announced that both Iran and the US have expressed confidence in Pakistan to act as the facilitator for negotiations, and Pakistan is ready to host the talks in the coming days.
On 29 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Pakistan stated that it is prepared to host and facilitate talks between the United States and Iran “in the next few days,” following a four-party meeting in Islamabad with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt to seek ways to de-escalate and end the Middle East conflict.
“Pakistan is honored to host and facilitate meaningful talks between both parties in the coming days to reach a comprehensive and sustainable agreement on the ongoing conflict,” said Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, in a statement.
Dar also said he briefed visiting ministers on the opportunity for US-Iran talks in Islamabad, adding that the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt expressed their “full support” for this initiative.
He added that both Iran and the United States “have shown full support and confidence in our efforts” to facilitate the negotiations.
However, it was not specified whether Iran or the US have officially confirmed their participation in these peace talks.
Additionally, Dar revealed he had phone conversations with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, both of whom expressed support for Pakistan’s initiative.
