Iranian media have launched a campaign to recruit volunteers to assist in various fields, including security and support roles such as patrol units, accepting applicants aged 12 and above.
Defa Press, a news agency affiliated with the Iranian military, published a new volunteer registration campaign in Tehran, allowing individuals aged 12 and older to sign up for roles related to security and support activities.
This week, Defa Press posted that the initiative was announced by Iran’s paramilitary force known as the "Basij," under the title “Homeland Guardian Warriors for Iran,” promoting the campaign with the main slogan “For Iran.”
Officials explained that this effort aims to mobilize public assistance and harness citizens’ capabilities across multiple areas, including national defense, transportation support, and relief work.
Defa Press reported that individuals aged 12 and above are eligible to register for this campaign.
Further details about the program appear in a video shared by Tasnim News, Iran’s semi-official news agency, which seems to be a segment from the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) discussing the program and outlining various possible volunteer roles.
Among the positions mentioned are roles in the “intelligence patrol unit,” operational patrol units, and duties at checkpoints, indicating some volunteers may be involved in local surveillance or security operations.
Iran has historically relied on mass mobilization structures linked to paramilitary networks, especially the Basij group operating under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), with a long history of recruiting volunteers during wartime and for internal security roles.
