Global Crude Oil Prices Surge at Asian Market Open, Reaching $115 per Barrel After Iran Threatens to Expand Attacks

Global crude oil prices surged at the Asian market open following ongoing escalating tensions in the Middle East, while Iran threatened to expand attacks to universities and residences of U.S. and Israeli officials.

On 30 March 2026 GMT+7, global crude oil prices rose again at the Asian trading open, with Brent crude climbing to $115.84 per barrel, approximately 4,170 baht, up 2.9%. Compared to pre-war levels on 28 February, when prices were around $72 per barrel or about 2,590 baht, oil prices have soared dramatically within just one month.

Previously, oil prices peaked at $118 per barrel on 19 March before slightly softening and then rising again amid Middle East tensions. The primary driver remains ongoing conflict among the U.S., Israel, and Iran, affecting key global energy transport routes and raising concerns over oil supply.

Meanwhile, Iran has signaled a harsher response. Ebrahim Solfagari, spokesperson for the Qatam al-Anbiya Command, stated they may expand attacks to universities as well as residences of U.S. and Israeli officials and political leaders in the region, in retaliation for earlier strikes.
