Kuwait Reveals Iranian Attack on Oil Tanker at Dubai Port, Warns of Potential Oil Spill Impacting Environment

Kuwait revealed that its large crude oil tanker was attacked while docked in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, identifying Iran as responsible and warning of the risk of an oil spill in the surrounding sea.

Kuwait's official news agency reported on 31 March that the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation stated the tanker "Al Salmi," fully loaded with crude oil, was directly attacked, causing damage to the ship and a fire onboard.

Although the incident damaged the ship, no deaths or injuries were reported. The company is currently conducting a detailed damage assessment and warned of the possibility of an oil spill that could affect the nearby marine environment.

Dubai Media Office confirmed via the X platform that authorities are responding to a drone-related incident impacting Kuwait's oil tanker in Dubai waters, assuring that no injuries resulted from the event.

All 24 crew members are safely cared for while the marine firefighting team is working to control the fire and manage the situation following safety procedures.

Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti military disclosed that the country's air defense systems are countering missile and drone attacks posing threats, reflecting escalating tensions in the Middle East region.
