Second Fire at Israeli Oil Refinery This Month Amid Intensifying Iran Conflict

A fire broke out at an oil refinery in Haifa, northern Israel, on Monday. This is the second such incident within a month amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, though the exact cause remains unconfirmed.

Images from the scene showed intense flames engulfing a large oil storage tank, with thick black smoke rising into the sky, before Israeli firefighters and rescue teams managed to bring the situation under control.

So far, it remains unclear whether the fire was caused directly by a missile attack or resulted from debris from the air defense system's interception efforts.

Israel, which has only two oil refineries, is facing heightened energy risks as its military continues targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure, particularly the South Pars gas field, one of the world’s largest gas reserves.

Meanwhile, Iran’s petrochemical infrastructure has also suffered damage from multiple attacks, highlighting the ongoing retaliatory exchanges between the two countries.

At the same time, the conflict has spread to neighboring Gulf countries. Saudi Arabia intercepted at least five missiles aimed at its eastern region, a vital oil-producing area.

Bahrain issued missile alerts, while Dubai in the United Arab Emirates reported fireballs in the sky after its defense systems successfully intercepted incoming missiles.
