Iranian President Stresses US Must Guarantee No Further Attacks to End War

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian affirmed that any agreement must guarantee security and safeguard Iran's interests amid the ongoing Middle East war, now in its second month.

President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran stated during a cabinet meeting on Monday (30 Mar) that any decision to end the conflict with the United States and Israel must prioritize the security and interests of the Iranian people.

Pezeshkian said Iran is not seeking a prolonged conflict but will not accept any agreement without secure guarantees. He emphasized that any decision to end the war must “guarantee the security and interests of the Iranian people.”

He further stressed that Iran is ready to move toward de-escalation if there are tangible assurances that no further aggression will occur. “We have the necessary commitment to end the war according to our conditions, especially guarantees to prevent repeated invasions,” Pezeshkian said.

He also affirmed that the resistance of the military combined with public unity is a key mechanism enabling the country to overcome what he called the current “crisis situation.”

“The military’s resistance, along with the unity shown by the Iranian people during the war, is one of the most important factors helping the country overcome the current crisis,” Pezeshkian said, according to the IRNA news agency.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of public support rallies in various cities, describing them as valuable elements that strengthen Tehran’s stance. “The gatherings of people in the evenings are immensely valuable,” he added, noting that Iran continues to inspire various liberation movements.

Pezeshkian’s remarks came as the confrontation between Iran and the US-Israel alliance enters its second month. Military operations that began on 28 February have resulted in over 1,900 deaths, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the former Supreme Leader.

Tehran has retaliated by launching missile strikes and drone attacks on targets in Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military infrastructure. These actions have caused casualties, infrastructure damage, and wide-ranging impacts on global trade and air travel.
