Iranian President Warns Europe Against Intervening in War, Citing Serious Consequences

The Iranian president warned Europe not to intervene in this war, cautioning that such interference would lead to dangerous consequences. He also criticized the United States, saying it lacks genuine commitment to diplomatic methods.

On 31 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone conversation with Antonio Costa, President of the European Council. Pezeshkian warned European leaders that any intervention in this war would lead to “dangerous consequences.”

During the discussion, Pezeshkian criticized what he called the European Union’s “negative and biased” stance on U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran, stating that these attacks represent severe violations of international law and principles—values Europe has consistently claimed to uphold.

So far, European countries have tried to maintain distance from the war by refusing to participate in offensive operations, although some nations have provided defensive support to Gulf states. On the morning of Tuesday, 31 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Donald Trump posted messages criticizing European countries for not assisting in attacks against Iran.

Pezeshkian also said that Iran previously entered negotiations with the U.S. “in good faith” but was attacked again during discussions, demonstrating Washington’s lack of true commitment to diplomatic approaches.

The Iranian president further warned that “any additional foreign intervention” in this conflict, “regardless of the justification,” would result in dangerous repercussions.

Meanwhile, Antonio Costa posted on X on Tuesday that during his phone call with Pezeshkian, he called for “de-escalation and restraint.”

“There must be space for diplomacy,” Costa said, adding that at the same time, “broader security concerns stemming from Iran must also be addressed.”
