Iranian media reveal that the US and Israel attacked a key bridge near Tehran, causing part of it to collapse and resulting in 8 deaths, while Donald Trump said many more attacks will follow.
Fars News Agency, Iran’s semi-official outlet, reported that the US and Israel targeted an important bridge on the outskirts of Tehran, causing at least 2 deaths. The bridge, a new route under construction linking Iran’s capital to the city of Karaj, was partially severed.
Local security officials stated that multiple strikes hit the B1 bridge, located about 40 kilometers west of Tehran, on Thursday (2 Apr), resulting in at least 8 deaths and 95 injuries.
The deceased included villagers from Bilqan, travelers passing by, and families in the area celebrating Nature Day, the last day of Nowruz, the Persian New Year festival.
Meanwhile, Mizan News Agency, affiliated with Iran’s judiciary, said this bridge is the “highest bridge in the Middle East,” designed to reduce travel time between Tehran and Karaj from one hour to just 10 minutes. Local media praised it as the “pride of Iranian engineers.”
US President Donald Trump posteda video clipshowing the moment the bridge was struck and collapsed on Truth Social, accompanied by a message saying, “Many more will follow,” urging Iran to make a deal “before it’s too late.”
“The largest bridge in Iran has collapsed and will never be used again — and many more will follow! It’s time for Iran to make a deal before it’s too late and there is nothing left to save it as a great nation!”
However, it remains unclear whether the US or Israel was behind the attack. The US military has not commented, while the Israeli military stated it is unaware whether Israel conducted any strikes on this bridge.
