5.9-Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Afghanistan, Collapses Houses Killing 12

A 5.9-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Hindu Kush mountains in eastern Afghanistan, shaking several countries. Houses collapsed in Kabul, killing 12 people.

On 4 Apr 2026 GMT+7, a 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region in eastern Afghanistan, causing at least 12 deaths and injuring many after a house collapsed in Kabul.

Afghanistan's National Disaster Management Authority reported that the house collapse resulted from earthquake tremors at a depth of about 177 kilometers. According to Germany's Geophysical Research Center, the tremors were felt in several regional countries, including Islamabad in Pakistan, Kabul, and New Delhi in India.
