A shocking incident occurred when a toddler reached into a wolf enclosure at Hersheypark in the U.S. and was slightly bitten by a wolf. Officials stressed that parents must closely ensure the safety of their children.
The incident happened at ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park, part of Hersheypark in Pennsylvania, where a toddler secretly reached into a wolf enclosure and was bitten on the hand, sustaining minor injuries.
Reports indicate the child was not closely supervised by guardians, allowing them to crawl playfully up to the metal fence surrounding the wolf enclosure on Saturday morning and reach inside. A wolf then bit the child's hand. Officials stated the bite was a natural animal behavior, not aggression.
The zoo explained, "We have multiple layers of protection, clear warning signs, and complete barriers to ensure visitors can safely view the animals. However, visitors must remain in designated areas and supervise children closely at all times."
It was reported that the zoo, part of Hersheypark, cares for three gray wolves.
This amusement park made headlines last summer when a boy got lost and climbed onto the monorail track above the crowd. Fortunately, a good Samaritan tourist noticed and climbed up to help, safely returning the child to his family.
