Iran on Edge as Infrastructure Nationwide Targeted: Railways and Roads Damaged, At Least 2 Dead

Critical infrastructure across Iran has been targeted in airstrikes, especially the rail system and major transportation routes. Meanwhile, the Israeli military has advised the public to avoid using trains and to stay at least 12 hours away from railway lines.

Iranian official media reported that in the past few hours, the United States and Israel launched attacks on multiple infrastructure sites nationwide, causing widespread impact. The key targeted areas include the following:

  • Kashan: At least two people died after a railway bridge was attacked, according to a report from Mehr News Agency.
  • Karaj: The Iranian Red Crescent Society reported an airstrike on a railway line and released images of officials assisting the injured.
  • Qom Province: A ground transportation bridge was attacked.
  • Tabriz–Tehran freeway: The highway was targeted by gunfire, affecting travel.
  • Ahvaz: A road was attacked, with security officials in Khuzestan Province attributing responsibility to the United States and Israel.
  • Tabriz–Zanjan freeway: Temporarily closed due to security concerns.
  • Qareh Chaman–Mianeh road: Closed in both directions following an attack.

Additionally, local media reported that the attacks have expanded into civilian areas, including residential and commercial zones, raising widespread safety concerns for the public.

These attacks occur amid rising tensions in the Middle East, especially the conflict between Israel and Iran, in which the United States is directly involved.

Security experts view these transportation infrastructure attacks as a strategy to disrupt Iran’s logistics routes and increase short-term military pressure to compel Iran to negotiate.
