Iran claims it fired missiles and deployed drones to attack Saudi Arabia's petrochemical industrial complex, causing a severe fire. The attack is said to be in retaliation for an assault on an Iranian factory.
On 7 Apr 2026 GMT+7, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement saying their forces launched missiles and sent drones to attack the petrochemical industrial complex in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, in response to an attack on an Iranian petrochemical plant earlier that Monday.
The IRGC statement aligns with earlier AFP news reports indicating a fire broke out in the Jubail industrial complex, accompanied by several explosions.
That same morning, several Iranian media outlets, including Fars, Nour, and Tasnim, also reported the fire, sharing videos purportedly showing the industrial center engulfed in flames.
Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning Iran's missile and drone attack last night “against energy facilities in the eastern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
“Pakistan expresses sorrow over the loss of life caused by these attacks and strongly condemns the damage inflicted on critical infrastructure,” the statement added.
Saudi authorities have not provided detailed information about the attack locations or casualty figures. On Tuesday morning, the Saudi Ministry of Defense only confirmed intercepting 18 drones without further details.
