Iran Declares Victory, Claims to Have Pressured U.S. to Accept Their 10-Point Plan

Iranian authorities declared victory, claiming they forced the U.S. to accept their proposed 10-point plan. At the same time, Iranian media reported on Trump's announcement to postpone attacks by two weeks, calling it a shameful retreat.

On 8 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Iran's Supreme National Security Council issued a statement declaring a great victory, saying Iran had successfully forced the United States to accept their 10-point plan after Donald Trump posted an announcement postponing attacks on Iran by two weeks.

Trump's post stated, “Following discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and General Azim Munir of Pakistan, who requested that I suspend the deployment of destructive forces to Iran tonight under the condition that the Islamic Republic of Iran fully, immediately, and safely open the Strait of Hormuz, I agreed to suspend bombing and attacks on Iran for two weeks. This will be a 'ceasefire' for both sides!”

“The reason for this action is that we have achieved and exceeded all military objectives, and we have made significant progress toward a definitive agreement for long-term peace with Iran and peace in the Middle East. We have received a 10-point proposal from Iran, which we believe provides a foundation for further negotiations. Almost all past conflicts have been resolved between the U.S. and Iran, but this two-week period will help finalize and complete this agreement.”

Iranian government media reported on Trump's post with the headline, “Trump announces two-week ceasefire, accepts Iran's conditions to end the war.” Furthermore, the media described this event as “Trump's shameful retreat from his anti-Iran rhetoric.”
