Iran revealed 10 proposed conditions for a ceasefire agreement with the US and Israel, including lifting sanctions on Iran, paying compensation for damages, controlling the Strait of Hormuz, and opening the way for talks in Pakistan.
On 8 April 2026, Mehr News Agency reported citing a statement from Iran's Supreme National Security Council that Iran had disclosed 10 proposals leading to a two-week ceasefire agreement with the US and Israel, noting that the US had "accepted in principle" these proposals as a basis for negotiations.
Iranian officials stated that these 10 proposals would form the framework for the next phase of negotiations, although they do not yet signify an end to the war and further detailed discussions remain necessary.
1. The US must guarantee it will not carry out any further aggression against Iran.
2. Iran will continue to control the Strait of Hormuz as before.
3. Recognition of Iran's right to develop nuclear technology and enhance uranium capabilities.
4. The lifting of all primary US sanctions against Iran.
5. The removal of all secondary US sanctions.
6. The termination of United Nations Security Council resolutions against Iran.
7. The ending of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resolutions against Iran.
8. Compensation for war damages to Iran.
9. Withdrawal of US military forces from the region.
10. Cessation of fighting on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
Iranian authorities disclosed that negotiations are scheduled to begin on 11 April in Islamabad, Pakistan, initially lasting two weeks, with the possibility of extension by mutual agreement.
Earlier, President Donald Trump stated that the US would delay attacks on Iran for two weeks to allow for negotiations, viewing the 10 proposals as a "negotiable basis." However, Trump also noted that while the proposals are important, they are not sufficient and several issues could still hinder reaching an agreement.
