Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates revealed that Iran continues to launch missiles and send drones to attack them, causing damage, while Iran claims its attacks were in response to earlier bombardments of oil refineries.
On 8 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, two Arab U.S. allies, revealed they were targeted again by Iranian drone and missile attacks earlier this morning, despite Iran agreeing to a two-week ceasefire with the U.S.
The Kuwaiti military stated that Iranian drones caused "significant material damage" to oil facilities, power stations, and desalination plants. Meanwhile, the UAE Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems are "countering missile and drone attacks originating from Iran."
Iranian government media reported that the attacks were retaliation for strikes against Iran's energy infrastructure, citing a statement from Iran's National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) which said the oil refinery on Lavan Island was "the target of a cowardly enemy attack."
Although the statement did not explicitly name the enemy, there have been ongoing large-scale attacks by the U.S. and Israel targeting Iran's critical infrastructure.
In recent hours, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran, believed to have operated independently throughout the conflict, said it would adhere to the ceasefire agreement but warned the U.S. that "their fingers remain on the trigger."
