North Korea Conducts 3 Consecutive Days of Weapons Tests Including Missiles and Cluster Bombs, Sending a Tough Signal to South Korea

The Korean Peninsula is heating up as North Korea conducts continuous weapons tests for three full days, including short-range missiles, mobile air defense systems, and cluster bombs, claiming to develop its military capabilities.

North Korea's official news agency, KCNA, reported that the weapons tests occurred continuously from Monday through Wednesday to develop and enhance the country's military capabilities.

The highlight was the test of a tactical surface-to-surface missile named "Hwasongpho-11 Ka," equipped with cluster warheads. KCNA claimed it can completely destroy targets over a wide area of 6.5 to 7 hectares.

Cluster bombs are internationally scrutinized weapons because they disperse many smaller bomblets over a wide area and pose long-term risks to civilians.

Additionally, advanced weapons were tested, including electromagnetic weapons and carbon-fiber bomb delivery devices, identified as strategic national resources.

The South Korean military revealed that the second missile launch on Wednesday covered a distance exceeding 700 kilometers, while the earlier launch that day flew about 240 kilometers into the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan.

So far, no images of the tests have been released through official media, and there are no reports that North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un observed the tests.

These tests mark the fourth and fifth of the year, which analysts interpret as a signal rejecting Seoul’s efforts to restore inter-Korean relations.

Previously, South Korea expressed regret over a civilian drone intruding into North Korean airspace in January, initially described by Kim Yo Jong, the leader's sister, as a smart and appropriate stance.

However, the next day, a senior Pyongyang official clearly declared South Korea as the most hostile enemy state, reinforcing North Korea’s tough position. This situation increases regional security concerns and could impact East Asia’s long-term stability.
