Israeli Court Resumes Corruption Trial of Netanyahu After Wartime Suspension

The Israeli court has lifted emergency measures and resumed the corruption trial of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after it was temporarily suspended due to the war with Iran.

On 10 Apr 2026 GMT+7, the corruption trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to restart this Sunday after being temporarily halted because of the war with Iran. The Jerusalem District Court set the hearing for 09:30 to hear defense witnesses, marking a return to normal proceedings following the court's end of the emergency system that had restricted cases to urgent matters only.

Previously, Israel's Ministry of Justice had implemented special measures since late February 2026 GMT+7 that caused most criminal and civil cases to be suspended. This trial resumption continues from the pre-war phase and remains in the cross-examination stage, not a new trial start.

Netanyahu was charged in 2019 and has consistently denied all allegations. He began testifying in court in December 2024 and prosecutors started cross-examination in mid-2025. The charges cover several cases: 1000, 2000, and 4000, with the 4000 case—known as the Bezeq-Walla affair—considered the most serious due to bribery allegations. This case has drawn significant attention in Israel because it raises critical political questions about whether a national leader facing criminal charges should remain in office amid ongoing security tensions.
