France Launches Sale of 120,000 Lottery Tickets at 100 Euros Each to Win Picasso Painting Proceeds Support Alzheimer’s Research

France has begun selling 120,000 lottery tickets priced at 100 euros each, giving the general public a chance to win ownership of a painting by Pablo Picasso, the world-famous Spanish master painter. The proceeds will support research into Alzheimer’s disease.

On 11 April 2026, Christie’s, the renowned art auction house in Paris, France, launched a lottery to win the painting "Tête de Femme" (Head of a Woman) by Pablo Picasso, the globally acclaimed Spanish master painter. The public can participate by purchasing tickets at 100 euros each (approximately 4,500 baht). Only 120,000 tickets are available, with proceeds supporting Alzheimer’s disease research.

Christie’s stated that this project, named “1 Picasso for 100 euros,” is hosted at their institute in Paris. The initiative previously gained significant attention in 2013 when the winner received the painting “Man in the Opera Hat,” a 1914 work from Picasso’s Cubism period.

The artwork offered in this lottery is "Tête de Femme," painted by Picasso in 1941. The painting will be exhibited for viewing prior to the lottery draw.

Organizers said the number of tickets is capped at 120,000. If all tickets sell out, total revenue would reach about 12 million euros (approximately 540 million baht). Part of the proceeds will be given to Opera Gallery, the owner of the artwork, with the remainder supporting the Alzheimer’s research foundation.
