Foreign Media Report: US Engages in Direct Talks with Iran and Pakistan

Sources from Pakistan and Iran told several international media outlets that representatives from the US and Iran are negotiating directly, with Pakistani officials also participating.

On 11 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Pakistani government sources disclosed to BBC that US and Iranian representatives are holding direct talks in Islamabad, with Pakistani delegates—who are hosting the discussions—also involved.

Meanwhile, CNN reported, citing sources from the Iranian side, that the ongoing peace talks between the US and Iran today are face-to-face negotiations.

Previously, Iran's government-run IRIB television reported that negotiations between Iranian and US delegations have begun in Islamabad, Pakistan's capital, but did not specify whether these were direct talks or mediated.

If confirmed as direct talks, these discussions would mark the highest-level face-to-face negotiations between Iran and the US since the Islamic Republic's establishment in 1979.

Earlier, US Vice President JD Vance, leading the US delegation, and senior Iranian officials separately met Pakistan's Prime Minister. It is expected that these talks will be a one-day discussion, with Iran closely assessing the US position, making the negotiation outcome dependent on developments throughout the day.
