The Lebanese Prime Minister revealed that he has postponed his scheduled visit to Washington, D.C., to oversee the situation in his country following continuous Israeli attacks.
On 11 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said he decided to delay his upcoming trips to the United States and the United Nations because he needs to remain in Beirut amid ongoing Israeli attacks.
“Considering the current situation within the country... I have decided to postpone my trips to the United Nations and the United States... in order to manage government operations here in Beirut,” Salam posted on the platform X.
A Lebanese government source told CNN on Friday that Salam was originally expected to travel to Washington within the next few days, following Israel’s signal of willingness to engage in direct talks with Lebanon.
This postponement comes while a two-week ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran remains in effect. However, Lebanon continues to face Israeli attacks. The Israeli and US governments say Lebanon is not included in the agreement, whereas Iran and Pakistan assert that the ceasefire covers Lebanon as well.
