Benjamin Netanyahu said that the mission against Iran is not finished but has achieved historic results, while the U.S. and Iran are negotiating in Pakistan.
On 11 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the mission against Iran "is not over" as the U.S. and Iran conduct talks in Pakistan to seek an end to the war spreading across the Middle East region.
"This mission is not over, but it can be clearly said that we have achieved historic results," Netanyahu said in Hebrew during a televised statement on Saturday evening.
In a 13-minute speech, seemingly directed mainly to the domestic audience, Netanyahu summarized what he called Israel's significant achievements during the war, including the killing of senior Iranian leaders and the destruction of Iran's nuclear and missile capabilities. He also mentioned Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium, stating it must be eliminated, either by agreement or "by other means."
"Iran is begging for a ceasefire," Netanyahu claimed. "This regime of terror has significantly weakened. They are fighting for their own survival."
However, despite Netanyahu's claims of success, a nationwide opinion poll last week found that most Israelis do not believe the U.S. and Israel are winning the war against Iran.
Netanyahu also said he has approved direct talks with Lebanon, scheduled to take place in Washington next week. He stated that any agreement must include the disarmament of Hezbollah and be a genuine peace agreement "that will last for generations."
