Trump Says US-Iran Temporary Ceasefire Still Holds Plans to Blockade Strait of Hormuz

Trump stated that the temporary ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran remains stable despite failed talks in Pakistan, and announced plans to proceed with a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran warned of severe retaliation if provoked.

US President Donald Trump revealed that the two-week temporary ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran is still in effect, even though prolonged high-level talks in Pakistan failed to reach a conclusion over the past weekend.

Trump told reporters after returning to Washington, D.C. from Florida, “I think it’s still going well. Their military has been destroyed. Their navy is completely underwater.”

At the same time, Trump announced that the US would begin implementing a naval blockade around the Strait of Hormuz starting at 10:00 a.m. Eastern US time on Monday (local time).

Earlier, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated it would begin enforcing the naval blockade on all ships entering and leaving Iranian ports, following Trump’s orders.

Meanwhile, according to Fars News Agency, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned on Sunday that any warship attempting to approach the Strait of Hormuz would be dealt with severely and decisively, so the situation remains closely monitored.
