
A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck Nevada, U.S., near Carson City, with tremors felt across many areas. Shops had goods scattered on the floor, and residents said their homes bounced up and down as if nearly lifted from their foundations.
A 5.7-magnitude earthquake shook a rural area in Nevada, United States, east of the state capital, Carson City, on Monday evening, causing strong tremors in nearby communities.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported the earthquake occurred just before 6:30 p.m. local time, with the epicenter about 12.9 miles (20.7 kilometers) east of Silver Springs, at a shallow depth of 3.1 miles (5 kilometers), which intensified the shaking effects.
Video footage from Fallon showed damage inside a grocery store, with broken glass scattered and food products spilled across shelves, while in Silver Springs, images showed goods strewn all over the stores.
USGS added that residents in several nearby communities reported feeling "severe to very severe" shaking, with minor to moderate damage occurring in some areas.
Tyra Fuller, a resident of Silver Springs, described her experience during the quake, saying she felt as if her house was about to come off its foundation.
This earthquake caused significant alarm among local residents, while authorities continue to monitor the situation and assess damage.
