Brazen Daylight Bank Robbery in Naples: 25 Hostages Taken Before Escape Through Hidden Tunnel

Armed suspects stormed a bank in the city of Naples, holding 25 hostages for over two hours before releasing them all unharmed. They ultimately fled through a hidden tunnel, believed to be connected to the drainage system.

A brazen bank robbery occurred in Naples, Italy, when armed criminals broke into a branch of Crédit Agricole during daylight hours. The suspects took 25 hostages, confining them inside the building, while police quickly cordoned off the area after the incident.

Local media reported that authorities spent about two hours negotiating with the suspects before the hostages were released.

Social media images showed firefighters breaking windows to help people escape the building. Some brushed off glass shards and walked out on their own, while others appeared shocked, crying, and embracing relatives.

At least six people received first aid for shock, but there were no reports of serious injuries.

One hostage told local media that the suspects confined them together in a room. Although armed, the robbers did not use violence. Local officials confirmed that all hostages were safely rescued by shortly after 1:30 p.m.

During the incident, special Carabinieri units from the Tuscany region were dispatched in support. Gunfire and flashbang explosions were heard during the police operation to storm the bank. However, when officers secured the area, the suspects had already fled. It is believed they escaped through a tunnel possibly connected to the city's underground drainage system.

Photos from the scene showed police and firefighters inspecting a manhole near the bank amid crowds watching the situation unfold. Reports indicated the suspects did not steal cash directly but drilled into personal safes, making it difficult to assess the value of stolen property.
