Iran Indicates New Round of Talks with U.S. to Be Held in Islamabad This Monday

Iranian sources revealed that a new round of talks between Iranian and U.S. representatives is likely to be held in Islamabad, Pakistan, this Monday, amid indications that both sides continue negotiations despite unresolved tensions.

On 18 April 2026, Iranian officials disclosed that both negotiating teams are expected to arrive in Islamabad, Pakistan, by Sunday. However, the U.S. side has not yet confirmed the official schedule.

This development comes after U.S. President Donald Trump confidently stated that Iran has accepted all terms and both sides are close to reaching an agreement within one to two days. Trump also told CBS News that one option under discussion is jointly removing enriched uranium from Iran and sending it to the U.S. Furthermore, Trump claimed Iran has ceased support for groups the U.S. designates as terrorist organizations, such as Hezbollah and Hamas.

He said there is no need for ground troops because, if an agreement is reached, both sides will cooperate without fighting, calling it a better solution than using force. However, Iran quickly denied agreeing to hand over its uranium stockpile to the U.S. in any way.

Meanwhile, Esmail Baghaei, spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, stated on state television that Iran’s enriched uranium will not be sent anywhere, and handing it over to the U.S. has never been an option in the negotiations. He added that Iran’s uranium is as sacred as its land and emphasized that Iran’s position has always been clear and unambiguous.
