An unexpected incident occurred in the United States when a massive swarm of about one million bees escaped from a beekeeper's truck after it overturned, forcing the temporary closure of an interstate highway exit.
The incident took place near the exit of Interstate 40 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Tennessee Department of Transportation reported that the swarm covered the exit area, prompting officials to close the route for safety reasons.
Agency spokesperson Mark Nagy stated on social media that the eastbound I-40 exit to Henley Street was temporarily closed. He warned the public that those not wearing protective bee suits should remain inside their vehicles for safety.
In a video released, beekeepers wearing protective suits can be seen spraying water around the damaged truck, with fire trucks present at the scene to help control the situation.
Later reports indicated that the situation was resolved by late morning the same day, and the traffic route was reopened. Officials confirmed they successfully removed all the bees from the area, and traffic resumed normally.
