Trump Reveals US Delegation Heading to Pakistan for New Talks with Iran

Donald Trump revealed that a US delegation is traveling to Pakistan for new talks with Iran while accusing Tehran's government of violating the ceasefire agreement after a merchant ship was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz.

On 19 Apr 2026 GMT+7, US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that the US delegation is traveling to Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, to hold new negotiations with Iran, accusing Tehran's government of violating the ceasefire agreement in the Strait of Hormuz.

“Iran decided to fire shots in the Strait of Hormuz yesterday, which is a complete violation of our ceasefire agreement! Multiple rounds targeted a French ship and a UK cargo vessel. That’s not very nice, is it? My representatives are heading to Islamabad, Pakistan. They will arrive there tomorrow evening for talks,” Trump’s post stated.

Meanwhile, in an interview with the New York Post on Sunday, Trump said that special envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to Pakistan, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner will also be involved.

Additionally, Trump claimed on social media that Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz are detrimental to Iran itself, stating, “Recently, Iran announced it would close the strait, which is very strange because our blockade has already closed it. They are unknowingly helping us, and they are the ones losing from the shipping route closure, amounting to 500 million dollars per day! The US loses nothing.”

The US leader added that shipping routes are changing, saying, “In fact, many ships are now heading to the US — Texas, Louisiana, and Alaska — to load goods. Thanks to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who always want to act like 'bullies'!”

Trump also said the US has made an offer he called a “very fair and reasonable agreement,” issuing a strong warning if the negotiations fail.

“We are proposing a very fair and reasonable agreement, and I hope they accept it. If not, the US will destroy every power plant and bridge in Iran. There will be no more nice guys!”

“Those targets will fall quickly and easily, and if they reject this deal, I will consider it an honor to do what should have been done by other presidents over the past 47 years. It’s time for Iran’s killing machine to end!” Trump concluded.

On the other hand, CNN reported citing several Iranian sources that an Iranian delegation will arrive in Pakistan on Tuesday to start talks with the US. The delegation will be the same as in the previous round, consisting of Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

Iran expects a joint symbolic announcement on Wednesday about extending the ceasefire agreement with the US, which is set to expire on 22 April.
