Trump Reveals US Navy Fired Upon and Seized Iranian Ship Attempting to Break Blockade

Donald Trump revealed that the US Navy fired weapons at and seized an Iranian cargo ship after it attempted to break through the US naval blockade and ignored warnings.

On 19 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Donald Trump, US President, posted on Truth Social that the US Navy fired upon and seized an Iranian-flagged cargo vessel after it tried to pass through the US naval blockade in the Gulf of Oman.

"Today, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship named Touska (TOUSKAX), nearly 900 feet long and weighing close to an aircraft carrier, tried to sail through our naval blockade, and the outcome was not favorable for them," Trump's post stated.

"The US Navy's guided missile destroyer USS Spruance intercepted the Touska in the Gulf of Oman and issued appropriate warnings to stop the ship. However, the Iranian crew refused to comply. Therefore, our Navy stopped them by firing upon the engine room, causing damage. US Marines have now taken control of the vessel."

Trump's announcement came as he alleged that Iran violated the current ceasefire agreement by attacking multiple cargo ships in the Strait of Hormuz after the Iranian government reinstated control measures over this vital shipping route, claiming that the US was the party "breaking its word."
