Trump Claims Iran Halts Execution of 8 Women After His Appeal

Donald Trump claimed that Iran has agreed to suspend the execution of eight women after his request yesterday, while Iran stated they have no plans to execute any women.

On 22 Apr 2026 GMT+7, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that Iran agreed to halt the executions of eight women following his direct appeal to Iranian leaders, although the Tehran government denied Trump's claim that these women were about to be executed.

"Great news! I have just been informed that the eight women protesters scheduled for execution tonight in Iran will no longer be killed. Four will be released immediately, and the other four will receive one-month prison sentences. I deeply appreciate Iran and its leader honoring my request as President of the United States and stopping these planned executions," Trump wrote.

Trump's latest move came after he posted on Tuesday calling on Iranian leaders to release the eight women, attaching a screenshot of a post on X by a user claiming these women were about to be executed by Iran, while the international community and human rights organizations ignored the situation.

However, Iranian officials later confirmed they have no intention of executing any women in this group.

This conflicting information heightens suspicion about the accuracy of case information under Iran's justice system. Previously, Trump had made inaccurate claims about death sentences in Iran, which were later disputed or unverifiable.
