Trump Orders Navy to Attack All Iranian Ships Laying Mines in the Strait of Hormuz

Donald Trump revealed that he has ordered the Navy to attack every Iranian ship laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing once again that the Iranian Navy has been completely destroyed.

On 23 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Donald Trump, the U.S. President, disclosed that he had ordered the U.S. Navy to fire on any Iranian ships laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz amid escalating tensions, despite a ceasefire agreement between the two sides.

"I have ordered the U.S. Navy to destroy every ship, no matter how small (all 159 of their warships have sunk to the bottom of the sea!) that is laying mines in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. There is absolutely no hesitation allowed," Trump stated in a post on Truth Social.

At the same time, Trump said the U.S. is conducting mine-clearing operations in the strait. "Our mine-sweeping ships are currently clearing the area in the Strait. I order the mission to continue but to increase the intensity threefold!"

Previously, in March, Trump had issued a similar threat that the U.S. military would attack any ship laying mines. This issue has resurfaced as Trump seeks ways to reopen navigation through the Strait of Hormuz amid mounting global economic pressures.

Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth repeatedly asserted that the Iranian Navy, estimated to have about 150 ships, has been completely destroyed. However, CNN previously reported that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) still retains military assets such as small boats and others.
