Donald Trump announced that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon has been extended by another three weeks after representatives from both countries held talks in Washington, D.C.
On 23 Apr 2026 GMT+7, U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been extended for three more weeks after he hosted a meeting with representatives from both countries at the White House on the same day.
"The meeting went very well! The United States will cooperate with Lebanon to help the country defend itself against Hezbollah," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Originally, the ceasefire agreement, announced last week, was scheduled to expire after 10 days.
Trump hopes that ultimately he will act as a mediator for broader peace negotiations between the two countries, which have been officially at war since 1948.
"I look forward to hosting Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in the near future," Trump stated in the post.
