US Confirms Sending Delegation to Pakistan to Revive Talks with Iran

The United States confirms sending Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to visit Pakistan, hoping to revive negotiations with Iran after Abbas Araghchi, Iran's representative, arrived in Islamabad.

On 24 Apr 2026 GMT+7, the White House announced it will send special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Pakistan on Saturday morning to discuss with Iranian officials. This move comes as Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, arrived in Islamabad with a small delegation on Friday night.

Senior Pakistani officials confirmed that the visits by both sides are an important sign that could lead to resuming direct talks between the US and Iran to end the prolonged conflict, following a previous stalemate in negotiations amid uncertainty over Iran’s willingness to return to the negotiating table.

However, a telephone discussion between Araghchi and Pakistan’s leader on the same day is seen as a key factor advancing the situation. This meeting is closely watched as a potential turning point in diplomatic efforts to ease the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
