Ceasefire at Risk as Netanyahu Orders Strikes on Hezbollah After Rocket Attacks

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to launch heavy attacks against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon after rockets and drones were fired from Lebanese territory into Israel several times on Saturday.

On 25 Apr 2026, Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's Prime Minister, commanded the military to strike various Hezbollah locations in Lebanon forcefully, in response to multiple waves of rockets and drones launched from Lebanon on Saturday that Israel intercepted.

This order came after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a three-week extension of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon following negotiations by representatives of both countries in Washington, D.C. on Thursday (23 Apr). However, Netanyahu affirmed that Israel retains the freedom to respond to threats from Hezbollah.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that Israel's attacks on Saturday resulted in at least six deaths, with four fatalities occurring in the city of Yahmar Al-Shaqif and two more in the city of Safad Al-Batiq.

Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they killed “more than 15 militants in southern Lebanon” over the past weekend.

Ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah are endangering the already fragile ceasefire agreement, raising concerns about whether Trump will still be able to host Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the White House for a historic summit.
