Trump Claims Iran Sent New Proposal Immediately After Canceling Delegation to Pakistan

Donald Trump claims that Iran sent a better proposal almost immediately after he announced canceling the delegation to negotiate with Iran in Pakistan to seek an end to the war.

On 25 Apr 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Iran had "submitted many proposals, but they are still not good enough" after he announced canceling the delegation to Pakistan to hold new talks this weekend to seek a joint agreement.

Trump claimed he received a better proposal from Iran just minutes after the cancellation announcement.

"They sent us documents that should be better, and interestingly, immediately after I ordered the cancellation, within 10 minutes, we received a new document that looks much better," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, the U.S. presidential plane.

When CNN reporter Kit Meher pressed for more details about Iran's proposal, Trump replied only, "They proposed a lot, but it's still not good enough."

Meanwhile, the U.S. White House announced last Friday that the U.S. delegation would travel to Islamabad this weekend, before Trump announced the cancellation of the delegation's trip on Saturday.

At the same time, Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, had just left Pakistan after discussions with senior officials on Middle East war issues. Iran confirmed that Araghchi had no scheduled meetings with U.S. officials.
