Melania Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Trump’s cabinet members attending the event were also urgently removed from the area, while many other guests took cover by dropping to the floor or hiding under tables.
Sources told CNN that Trump is safe, and administration officials confirmed that all cabinet members are also safe.
According to reports from journalists, several security personnel shouted “There’s a shooting” inside the White House Correspondents' dinner. Later, one officer announced over the radio that the suspected shooter had been detained, though no official confirmation has been made.
