A German tourist died unexpectedly after being bitten by a snake while watching a snake show at a hotel in Hurghada, a popular Red Sea resort city in Egypt.
German police revealed on Monday (27 Apr) that the 57-year-old man was attending a snake show inside the hotel during a family vacation.
Reports stated that two snakes, believed to be cobras, were used in the show, with some audience members having snakes draped around their necks before one snake slithered into the tourist's pants.
The snake then bit his leg, causing clear symptoms of venom poisoning. Officials rushed to provide first aid and performed CPR before transporting him to the hospital, but he ultimately could not be saved.
The victim was from the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria and was traveling with two relatives.
Currently, German police and prosecutors are investigating the cause of death and awaiting toxicology results to confirm further details.
However, when AFP contacted Egyptian authorities, they stated they were not yet aware of the incident.
