Trump Signals Possible Rejection of Irans New Proposal Over Nuclear Dispute Concerns

U.S. President Donald Trump has signaled he might not accept Iran's latest offer to end the conflict after Tehran proposed opening the Strait of Hormuz but postponed nuclear issue negotiations.

Two sources close to the discussions revealed that Trump expressed this stance during a meeting with the National Security Council advisory team on Monday, indicating he is unlikely to accept the latest plan Iran sent to Washington in recent days.

U.S. officials view that opening the Strait of Hormuz without reaching an agreement on Iran’s uranium enrichment capabilities, or uranium quantities nearing nuclear weapon levels, could cause the U.S. to lose a key negotiating advantage.

However, if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, it could further push global energy prices upward and lead to higher fuel prices in the U.S.

After the meeting, it remains unclear how Trump will proceed, while U.S. officials remain concerned about a lack of unity within the Iranian government and uncertainty about who holds the final decision-making authority in this agreement.

The White House declined to provide details about the negotiations. Olivia Waltes, White House assistant press secretary, stated the discussions are sensitive and that the U.S. will not negotiate through the media. She emphasized that the U.S. will make agreements prioritizing the interests of the American people and will absolutely not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons.
