Police stated that the 89-year-old suspect used a shotgun to open fire at the Greek social security office (EFKA), injuring one employee in the leg. Afterwards, the gunman took a taxi to a courthouse building and fired multiple shots inside, wounding four female court employees with minor injuries.
Local media reported that the elderly man left the shotgun at the scene along with a letter addressed to various publishers before fleeing on foot.
Reports further noted that the suspect worked as a garbage collector in Athens, but his motive for the attacks remains unknown.
