A survey of American public opinion found President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to 34%, the lowest since his return to the White House, amid concerns over the cost of living and the US-Iran war.
On 29 April 2026, Reuters in collaboration with Ipsos released a survey of 1,014 Americans conducted from 24-27 April. It showed Trump's approval rating dropped to just 34%, the lowest since he re-entered the White House. Meanwhile, only 22% of respondents were satisfied with Trump's handling of the cost of living issues, as rising energy prices due to the Middle East crisis exacerbate inflation in the US.
Previously, a Marquette Law School survey indicated only 32% of eligible voters approved of Trump's handling of the Iran war. Even among Republican supporters, approval stood at 65%, reflecting divisions within the party.
An Associated Press/NORC poll last week found Trump's overall approval rating at 33%, with economic approval at 30%.
The surveys were conducted ahead of the US midterm elections in November, where Trump's Republican Party faces pressure from declining approval ratings while trying to maintain its majority in Congress.
