An assailant stabbed Jewish individuals in a north London neighborhood, injuring two people. The attack is believed to have been motivated by anti-Semitic hatred, which London Mayor Sadiq Khan strongly condemned as unacceptable.
On Wednesday, 29 Apr 2026 GMT+7, a man wielding a knife chased and stabbed people in the Golders Green area, a Jewish community in north London. He targeted Jewish individuals, injuring two people. The motive is believed to be anti-Semitic hatred.
A Jewish volunteer security group called Shomrim managed to restrain the attacker before the police arrived after witnessing the man running and stabbing people in the area. Both injured victims are in serious condition and are currently receiving medical treatment.
This incident follows several recent arson attacks targeting Jewish people in the past few weeks, after a stabbing attack at a Jewish synagogue in Manchester on 2 Oct last year, which resulted in two deaths and three injuries.
Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, strongly condemned the latest attack through the X platform, stating:
“A terrifying attack occurred against two Jewish Londoners in Golders Green... The Jewish community in London continues to face shocking attacks. Our society must have zero tolerance for racism and anti-Semitic hatred.”
Khan also thanked emergency responders and brave volunteers for quickly intervening to stop the attack.
In the past month, London police have arrested over 20 suspects as part of investigations into attacks on sites linked to the Jewish community, including incidents of ambulance arson and attempts to set fire to several synagogues.
Authorities are investigating whether these recent incidents are connected to Iran, amid security warnings that Iran is attempting to use local criminal groups as proxies to carry out hostile activities in the UK.
An Iran-affiliated group called Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyya has claimed responsibility for some attacks via social media.
Last Tuesday, the UK summoned the Iranian ambassador to protest provocative and unacceptable remarks after Iran’s embassy posted online calling on Iranians in the UK to volunteer for a campaign pledging readiness to sacrifice their lives for the nation.
